A PROPHETIC VISION AND
WARNING
OF AN
ATTACK ON THE PENTAGON (AND WASH. D.C.)
Inside the Pentagon
Meditation room,March
of 1996,
*
Copies of this vision
was distributed widely to The Pentagon officials, military and other government
departments, & to the general public at
the time. Was this vision a premonition of the 9-11 attack or another
attack to come? You decide.
About
six years after retiring from the Office of the Secretary of Defense I
made a return visit to the Pentagon in March 1996 for a group meditation
with my former associates. But I was puzzled that no one else
showed up at the appointed time and place. The Pentagon Chaplain
on duty explained to me that the Pentagon Meditation Club (PMC) was no
longer active. Most PMC members had moved on to new assignments or
retired.
Somewhat
puzzled and surprised I decided to meditate alone in the solitude of the
Pentagon Meditation Room. There in the same place, where a decade
earlier I heard a mysterious voice speak the word, "Shield"
during my meditation, I began once again to invoke the Name of God
entering gradually deeper into the silence. (See reference to this
mystical guidance -
Source
of the Peace Shield Meditation Campaign.)
After
the meditation ended more thoughts began to surface. I was
silently questioning, "What were the benefits for all those years
of intense work with meditation and transformation research? Was it
really God’s will that we did it, only to be abused, ridiculed, and
attacked because of the Club’s presence and activities? Did the Peace
Shield Meditation/Prayer campaign and the series of spiritual defense
initiatives using meditation really accomplish anything? Was it that
there was no one left at the Pentagon to carry on the mission of
the Club, or that so few people were willing to meditate and pray?
Just some "un-stressing going on in me," I thought. Then, I
began to reflect on the fact that the Pentagon elite, the new
administration, knew nothing about transformation, or about past
spiritual defense initiatives and the benefits of meditation. I felt
depressed. It seemed to be such a great loss that the Club was no longer
active. I thought there was now something missing at the Pentagon.
I thought about a tombstone with the inscription, "R.I.P.”
Finally,
I raised my eyes and saw a Bible lying open on an altar, just as
it had been ten years earlier! I approached the altar and randomly
turned the pages to the Book of Isaiah, Chapter 66, verses 14 through
16, and read:
".
. . And the hand of the Lord shall be known toward his servants, and His
indignation toward His enemies. For behold the Lord will come with
fire, and with fury, and with his chariots like a whirlwind, to render
his anger with fury, and his rebuke with flames of fire. For by
fire and by his sword will the Lord plead with all flesh: and the slain
of the Lord shall be many."
In
the next moment after reading this passage I was shown a horrible vision
of doom and destruction that seemed to me so real that I felt the heat
on my face and smelled the smoke. I saw arrows flying in the air -- missiles
(chariots). Suddenly there was the impact of a nuclear explosion
in the City of Washington, D.C. I stood there watching the
Pentagon's walls melt in flames and disintegrate. Then a deep
sorrow came over me as I watched the entire City being engulfed in a
mushroom cloud -- "and the slain of the Lord were many."
Those
terrifying images seemed to me to be a response to all my questions,
which seemed to mean that the stage was set for indescribable disasters
for the United States and the world. Shaken by this vision and
premonition of events to come, I quietly exited the Pentagon building
thinking about the horrifying scene I had witnessed. I passed by
the POAC (Pentagon Officers Athletic Club) where a jogger ran toward me
wearing a T-shirt with the words that said, The Legendary Pentagon, a
final cryptic message that seemed to be a confirmation of the
vision. I knew this vision was a warning for us all to transform ourselves
and our world. This experience was so disturbing to me that I
wrote about it and subsequently distributed copies widely at the
Pentagon and in government circles.
As
I left the Pentagon building that day pondering what I had received, it
occurred to me that whatever devastation does happen in the future, it
will not be punishment from God. Instead, it will be the
consequences of failed policies, bad and unenlightened leadership in
government and business, failure to change ourselves, and to turn to God
through prayer and meditation. In the Pentagon lexicon today
"Transformation of Military Capabilities" is a popular slogan.
The irony seems to be that neither the Pentagon elite nor our government
have yet introduced a program for individual and organizational
transformation. Neither do they seem to comprehend that
prayer/meditation are more powerful than military firepower, and that
love is the ultimate first strike capability for national security.
After the vision I was always concerned that some catastrophe might
occur at the Pentagon or in Washington, D.C., and so the 9/11 attack
did not come as a surprise. The United States is not invincible. War can
come to this country! Time is fast running out. We are
beginning to see that the day is not far off when friends and foes of
the United States will wonder what happened to the Legendary Pentagon.
General MacArthur sounded the warning:
We
have had our last chance. If we do not now devise some greater and
more equitable system, Armageddon will be at our door. The problem
is basically theological and involves a spiritual recrudescence and
improvement of human character . . . It must be of the spirit, if
we are to save the flesh. (Ultimate
Solution)

Edward Winchester founded the PMC -
Pentagon Meditation Club under the auspices of the Office of the Secretary of
Defense at the Pentagon, Washington, D.C. in 1976. The PMC continued to
function until the late 1990's. It is now a civilian based activity
operating from outside the Pentagon facility.
