FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  1. What is cognitive dissonance?

In-harmonious combination of mental thoughts, which cause discord or upsets.

   2.  What is cognitive radiance?

The condition of mentally adjusting circuits of the brain to allow the greatest flow of current of certain frequencies; thoughts producing effects in certain parts of the body, especially the brain.

  3.  What is eugenic radiance?

Improving, or relating to the improvement of the human race by sending out positive energy waves generated by life-supporting thoughts.

  4. What is spiritual recrudescence?
Spiritual - That which is spiritual has no body, form, or substance. It cannot be categorized as “a thing.” Spirit is defined as, “the life principle, the thinking, feeling part of man, as distinguished from the body, mind, and intelligence.”

Recrudescence - Implies a return or coming back to a former condition and becoming active after a period of inactivity.  Theologians assert that the life principle, sometimes referred to as the “Light of Life,” flows or emanates from a central source called "God," “Source of the Light of Life.”

  5.  Is there a “Technology for Transformation”

Cognitive resonance and eugenic radiance ("Inner Light") are two resources needed to transform human behavior. These are seeds for peace that are the result of experiencing states of  silence .  Empirical evidence supports the hypothesis that conflicts and chaos within a population of any given size occur whenever individuals exhibit cognitive dissonance (See SDI Exercises).  It follows that extreme cognitive dissonance leads ultimately to terrorism and wars.  The opposite condition occurs when people systematically generate cognitive resonance and eugenic radiance occurs. This phenomenon is the result of physiological output, which is verifiable and measurable.  This technology points to the conclusion that the collective efforts of many people to silently access their inner resources results in transformation of human behavior. See “Technology for Transformation”

   6.  What is the ultimate solution?

The problem of conflict and war is basically theological and involves a spiritual recrudescence and improvement of human character.

  7.  Why Meditate and what does meditation really do for me?

This is important not only for spiritual well-being, but there are health benefits, physical and mental.  Quieting the body and mind strengthens the mind-body connection. Silence is for everyone, because there is also a "Common Ground" that we all share with each other. Accessing the "Common Ground" involves a technology for resoling conflicts and solving problems. This applies on any scale of human activity. Inner peace is the basis for world peace.  We found that, if you want peace and want to improve the quality of life for yourself and everyone else, a program of daily centering prayer and med We found that people who pray and meditate supply something special that is critical to the support of diplomatic and military efforts to realize peace.  While this process is a necessary condition, by itself it is not sufficient to realize impossible dreams.  Empowerment comes, but it is necessary also to transform thoughts, feelings, and emotions, and be responsible for making positive changes.  We have found that prayer and meditation balanced with positive action is a winning combination. Positive changes in individual consciousness lead to societal changes that can be monitored by observing changes in social and economic indicators. The collective consciousness of an entire population is influenced by even a small percentage of people experiencing cognitive resonance and eugenic radiance.

    8.  How do I meditate and what are the steps to Peace Shield Meditation?

See Procedure to Experience States of Silence

   9.  What is the PMC’s long-range goal?

Like General George Washington our desire is to see this plague of mankind, war, banished from the face of the earth.

  10.  What is spiritual defense?

When enough people call on the Name of God in prayer and meditation, there will be an end to wars, terrorism and other forms of violence in the world. Herein is a hidden technology for transformation and spiritual defense, which serves to change the way of knowing, thinking and the behavior needed to eliminate the evil of war, conflict and strife.

  11.  What is the PMC?

Edward Winchester, while working as a staff member in the Office of he Assistant Secretary of Defense (Comptroller), founded the PMC - Pentagon Meditation Club.  The Club received its official charter from the Office of the Secretary of Defense at the Pentagon, Washington, D.C. in 1976.  The PMC continued to function until the late 1990's.  It is now a civilian based activity operating from outside the Pentagon facility. The organization continued to function for at least twenty years as a non-denominational private association of Department of Defense employees and military personnel. The group grew gradually until the number of meditators grew to over one percent of the entire Pentagon population of 17,000 employees.  They came individually for private meditations, whether for relaxation, de-stressing, or to pray for situations in the world whenever their work schedules permitted. However, a core group of about a dozen individuals gathered together faithfully on Fridays using the centering prayer/meditation format of the Peace Shield Meditation in the Pentagon Mediation Room.

  12.  How Can I Be on the PMC Team?

Send us a short note saying I’m in!

  13.  What Can I do to help heal a world in crisis?

Real healing for the world can only come when we transform (heal) ourselves first.  In our busy world in the work place and home, one rarely has time to pray or experience the value of silence through prayer/meditation  (rest). Together we can make a difference moving the world from war to peace.

  14.  What is peace shield meditation and where did it come from?

See Source of the Peace Shield: Psalm 5, v 11-12.

  15.   What is the “New Paradigm” for Problem Solving?

It seems evident that across the board educators and reformers have traditionally viewed consciousness raising as a function of getting or giving more information, as opposed to having more of the “Light of Life”, or to use religious terminology, more of the gifts of “Holy Spirit.”   With consciousness as a focus for developing problems solving skills, rather than the brain or the mind, a whole new and exciting model (New Paradigm) for dealing with the problems of evil, war, and terrorism in the world can be advanced.

 16.  What Is the Halo Effect?

Have you ever noticed that pictures and paintings of Jesus, Mary, and the saints have a golden Light that surrounds their body and is around their head which is called a halo?  This Light, which I call the "halo effect," emanates from the Source of Light, which we call God. Historical evidence shows that saints had to undergo transformation in their own personal life to receive the essence this Light more fully. This effect is also referred to as an energy field by scientists.  Hence, the more Light or spiritual energy one has the more God centered their lives are.

Scientific evidence tends to confirm the existence of the halo effect. Computer processing of images and light emission from gas discharges around a finger, initiated by strong electromagnetic field impulse. As subjects meditate consistently, this energy field (God's Light) can be observed with the aid of specialized equipment.  The energy field is enhanced by meditation and mental training. The Kirlian patterns show a form of “explosive activation,” which is stable, reproducible,  and correlated with changes in consciousness. Brain mechanisms  involve computerized versions of the Kirlian effect and include a complex bioelectrography approach based both on different brain mapping methods, and positron emission tomography scan.
