RETIRED OFFICER URGES CITIZEN ACTION IN MID-EAST CRISIS
Since President Bush says he has little hope of ending the Persian Gulf Crisis without the use of force, the average citizen must take action and turn the tide toward peace, said Edward Winchester who is retired from [The Office Of Secretary of Defense] in the Pentagon Washington DC on Sunday. . . . . People whose thoughts are incoherent, on the other hand, are more vulnerable to destructive forces and are more likely to react out of emotion and anger, Winchester said. "It leads a person to make mistakes." (Excerpts taken form: THE WINCHESTER STAR, Monday, January 14, 1991 By Terrie Mahoney"
Once again there is a need to call on people everywhere to enlist in another Spiritual Defense Initiative, a response to the FATWAH against Americans, and muster a defense force of spiritual warriors to build a spiritual shield strong enough to protect individuals and nations from war and terrorism. The mission to root out evil is essentially a spiritual one. Anyone can enlist in this spiritual defense initiative to spread a spiritual shield and send a message of hope for peace to Iraqis, Israelis, Palestinians, the United States, and other nations suffering the plagues of war and terrorism.
Our strategy is to form coalitions of peacemakers who individually and collectively practice a discipline of daily prayer/meditation . Only then will it be possible to effectively activate the resources needed to win a war on evil and be instruments for peace. This time the goal is transformation of forces that sponsor terrorism and of opposing political, diplomatic, and military forces that are focused on war. The present strategy is patterned on a technology for transformation used for previous spiritual defense initiatives, which relies on prayer power as the weapon of choice and love and compassion as the ultimate first strike capability. Prayer and meditation are essential for shielding, for removing limitations and barriers, and for making the seemingly impossible possible. These are powerfully effective elements of any strategy for dealing with an enemy; for resolving personal, family, community, national, and international conflicts; and for problem solving at all levels of society. Prayer power spreads an attitude of peace within the minds and hearts of citizens of the world, which must naturally extend to world leaders. As the tide of collective prayer power comes in, all boats rise.
When politicians, diplomats, and world leaders fail to find solutions to the age-old problems of war, terrorism, and evil, what options are available to them? When the administration of a country encounters crises and misfortunes; when economic systems and financial institutions falter, or business organizations experience failures; or well-known personalities or religious leaders or leaders of a nations experience disgrace, the cause is always the same. When the consciousness connection with God, the ultimate Source of Light, is limited or blocked; progress in any field of human endeavor can be expected to be superficial and temporary. The risk of failure in achieving worthy goals and objectives is high. An essential piece in the peace puzzle is missing.
Such developments are an indication that the connection with the real Power Source is weak, or is in some cases completely blocked. When this connection is jeopardized, brains tend to become dull. Dis-stress arises in the family of nations, as individuals are unable to form the right judgments needed for effective policy-making.
There is an ultimate solution. The success of this mission depends on demonstrating a technology for spiritual recrudescence. Everyone can be involved in further demonstrating the effectiveness of this strategy for peace. Test and evaluate the technology for yourself. The radiance of God’s Light (the Light of Life) and loving hearts can pierce the armor of differences – political, economic, social, military or religious – that exists between individuals, groups, and nations. This transformation is what we call "The Peace Shield Effect".
