SPIRITUAL DEFENSE - SHIELDING 

     Shielding which is spiritual defense provides for personal protection and security of individuals and nations is not isolated to the operational readiness and effectiveness of military forces and the availability of advanced weapon systems, nor to law enforcement agencies.

            The phenomenon of shielding can be found in nature, and many aspects of the physical and biological sciences.  Throughout the physical and biological sciences principles can be discovered which give rise to effective defense mechanisms for both individual and collective protection and security.  What seems to be universal about shielding mechanisms is that they apparently depend upon collective functioning and coherence within a given population.

            One striking illustration of this natural phenomenon of shielding is in the physics of superconductivity, whereby certain metals gain the property of infinite conductivity when the temperature is reduced to a very low level - near absolute zero.  The principles of quantum physics reveal that states of least excitation of particles of matter are of necessity the most coherent and therefore the most orderly and harmonious states, e.g. water trapped in ice versus steam.  At the onset of superconductivity a phase transition occurs causing a transformation in physical particles from a disorderly state to a more orderly state of existence; a structural change occurs causing movement from incoherence to coherence among electrons.  For example, a phase transition occurs in metal by reducing the activity of electrons to a sufficiently quiet level.  The most striking property is the shielding caused by the superconducting condition.  In superconductivity shielding is structured on the basis of  invincibility from outside destructive forces.

            In the field of physics the Meissner Effect and in the field of human consciousness the Maharishi Effect illustrates the phenomenon of shielding.  When a magnetic field is directed at a sample of superconducting materials, it is perfectly repelled.  The mechanics of shielding depend on the frictionless flow of electrons within the superconductor.  When an external field is detected which threatens the integrity of the superconducting state, electrons at the surface of the sample are able to shift themselves instantaneously by virtue of completely frictionless flow.  The electrons move in such a way as to create a second magnetic field that precisely neutralizes the invading field.  The overall effect is that the invading field appears to be repelled and to flow around the outside of the superconductor.

Individuals, when  experiencing higher levels of consciousness in a supra-conscious realm beyond the domain of rational thought, become more in tune with nature and endowed with a natural form of defense and protection from physical violence and accidents.  In other words, individuals and large segments of a population can experience more coherence in mental activity.  In a weakened state (lower levels of coherent consciousness) society is at risk and breakdowns occur rather than breakthroughs at every level and in every area of human activity.
